Laughter, The Best Medicine
Gasoline Prices In Church?
Last Saturday, right before
the 5:00 p.m. vigil Mass, a lady visitor called me over to say that she had
a good story for me to put in the bulletin this week under the heading of "Laughter, The Best Medicine."
She told me that right after
her family got settled in their pew her young son looked up at the signboard in the sanctuary that shows the page number of
the hymns at Mass and asked his mother if those were gasoline prices.
We are lucky they weren't because I think the first hymn was 534!
Congratulations To The Sime Family
Father Aleki Piula Sime was
ordained a priest on December 6, 2007 in Tonga along with 5 other seminarians. Father Aleki is the son of Sione Sime, who
is one of our parishioners.
Father Sime taught
for four years before he entered the seminary. Father attended the Seminary of the South Pacific on the Island of Fiji. Father
Aleki is a Salescian, that is, a member of the famous congregation of Saint Don Bosco. We are all looking forward
to Father's next visit to Hawaii so that he will be able to celebrate Mass for our Tongan families and we can all meet him!

Development Fund Collection
This weekend, May 3-4, we will be taking up our monthly second collection for our development
fund. All the money donated for this fund is used for the repair and renovation of parish facilities.
Are you a Registered Parishioner?
Parish
registration is very important for the following reasons:
● To receive the Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion,
Confirmation, and Matrimony.
● To
be a Godparent for Baptism or a Sponsor for Confirmation.
● Some
letters of reference ask whether people are registered members of the parish.
If you have not filled out a census card, the orange cards may be found on the tables at the front of the church. They may be dropped in the collection basket, deposited in the “candle money”
box, or returned to the parish office.
Changed Your Address?
If you have recently moved, or changed your address, please let us know by calling the parish
office, 245-2432, so that we can update your information in our census data. This
is particularly important if you are using the parishioner contribution envelopes.
The envelopes are mailed out quarterly to the address we currently have on file for you. If your address has changed, the envelopes are returned to the parish with a 69¢ postage due fee. Mahalo!
